Welcome to My World

You found me! I'm so glad! Pull up an easy chair and let's catch up. I've probably been missing you. If we haven't yet met, I'd like to introduce myself.

It's a challenge to communicate a sense of self on a web page. Telling you about my interests might be a starting point. Cowboy Hat Girl So, in the following pages, I will endeavor to provide some insights. I would also like to say "Happy Holidays" and "Happy New Year" to all that stop by. I am looking for a few of you, so do write if you happen to be one of them.

Paradise

Sail boats on the bayside I've enjoyed this island Paradise. Click the picture to take a quick tour! Of course, the near-shore waters are barely swimmable. Runoff from the island's sewage and the effluvia from the mainland poison the waters and kill the very sea grasses that could clean them. I spent time taking a series of digitals prior to Hurricane Georges. I thought that there might be serious damage and the comparison photos might share the story. Take a look through my camera lens!

Westward Ho!

My experience in the mountains I got to see the Colorado mountains! Want to see some of what I saw? Click the photo on the left for a new window with a few photos I took while I was there. And if you want to see some pics of where I stayed you can click on this text to see the mountain house photos.

Methane/Alternative Energy

Beach on the south side of the island My concern over the waters of Paradise and a strange personal revelation brings me to my third project. It always seemed to me that we produce volatile waste. It seems an obscure observation...I know. But, none-the-less, I think that we produce enough waste to provide energy for our own use. Methane to Natural Gas for the boat, home or RV. Can you imagine harnessing your mate's waste?..."Oh, Honey!!"

Thora Cain

Thora Cain passed away peacefully on June 19, 2007.

She was a longtime resident of the Keys and may be best known as the Ghost Lady, who led a walking tour of Key West's haunted places. She loved the Keys and the surrounding waters, and when she wasn't snorkeling, diving or fishing, or pedaling her bicycle across the bridges, she'd often be found smiling and dancing at some of her favorite gathering places.

Thora is survived by her sons, Joshua and Jeremiah; her daughter, Jouquin; her sister, Sari Dawn; her brother, Keith; her mother, Mary Annis Lacy; her domestic partner of many years, Ernest Cummins; and many other good friends, who remember her fondly and miss her deeply.

In accordance with her wishes, Thora's remains are being cremated and her ashes will be scattered on the waters of the Gulf Stream.
