This is where we stayed, just south of Breckenridge. "Valhalla" is very private; nestled deep in the woods fronting 25,000 acres of Nationial Forest. The house was immaculate, with way too many bedrooms for the two of us. The views from each of the rooms are spectacular. Once outdoors, pine woods surround and the views are magnified. Questions or comments are welcome. This was my first trip to Colorado. I was overwhelmed by the mountains. The views extended beyond anything I'd seen in the movies. The heights above were only matched by the depths below. I'd never imagined driving down into clouds. I'm still in recovery from the Divides. The first morning we spent resting and acclimating to the change in altitude. It was delightfully cold and snowed shortly after we arrived (about 4 inches). Once I hydrated the house (humidifier, pot on the stove), we got to know the hot tub. It was wonderful to sit in 12 degree weather and enjoy the lively jets of warm water, easing my snowboard muscles. You can check out the rest of the house in the pictures below and, if you'd like to see my views of the mountains and some aerial shots, click here. |
